Ouchies! (Diesel)

On Christmas Eve, Lola went out to pee and came in limping. Mommy and Daddy weren't too worried about it at first, but Grandma had seen this before and heard that suspicious clicking sound... After the holiday weekend the Doodle still wasn't walking any better so she went to the vet and was diagnosed with a torn ACL- eek! She left Thursday and came back Friday with this shaved leg and gigantic stapled cut... Poor Lola!!!! Stay tuned for more on her recovery.

Merry Christmas to All! (L & D)

Remember that last post with Lola and Santa?? Well, our fabulous Aunt Becky took Diesel to see Santa at Petsmart last weekend so he could have a picture too- plus he wanted to have some one-on-one time with Santa to try and convince him that he was a good boy this year...
We had a wonderful low-key Christmas. On Christmas Eve, Honey had us all over to her house for dinner. We did scratch off tickets and socialized, then Diesel went to Grandma and Grumps' house to spend the night. Lola and Daddy rested on the couch and we all went to bed to wait for Santa... On Christmas morning, we all headed over to the Kamps (Honey too) to open LOTS of presents. Here's Diesel helping Aunt Becky open Emma's gifts (see that tempting candy cane shaped rawhide?!):
Emma got us this fabulous Santa soft toy which we promptly pulled a leg off of. Our favorite gift was the delicious all natural cheese and pumpkin-y treats from Baron's. YUM!
Here's a handsome and very bulldoggy picture of Diesel boy observing what's cooking in the kitchen:
Looks like someone got into the mimosas... or had a little too much fun with the gifts!
Beautiful Emma Rose with her rope gingerbread man:
Merry Christmas!!

It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas! (Lola and Diesel)

There have been signs all week so we're thinking Christmas might be right around the corner. Last weekend Mom and Dad brought this big tree in the house and decorated it. It's so pretty!!! Mom has been pretty pleased with how Diesel is behaving with it... she thought for sure she'd need the baby gates around it to keep him off, but so far he just inspects it from time to time and he's only knocked one glass ball off which did not even break. This is only Diesel's second Christmas here, since we got him two years ago on Dec 26th, and we took the tree down before he came home: While decorating the house, Mom pulled out her favorite photo in a frame to adorn the buffet in the dining room. A few years ago, Aunt Becky took Lola to Baron's K-9 Country Store to get pictures with Santa without Mom knowing about it... She put the picture in a frame and gave it to Mom for Christmas, and we all think it's really funny. Baron's is doing pics with Santa again this weekend (Sat. 12/18 from 11:00-3:00)... maybe Diesel needs to go?!
We also recently gathered on the front porch to pose for a Christmas card photo- We decided to go with this one, because it was pretty much the only one in which we're all looking at the camera:
Then today, the best clue yet... it SNOWED! We LOVE SNOW, as you may remember from last year. There were only a couple of inches, but it's been 20 degrees out so it stuck to the road. Mom took us for us for a walk in the park- here's a picture!

I overheard Mom on the phone with a chimney sweep and apparently we'll be having a fire in the fireplace soon too... what is that?!?!

Busy Weekend (Diesel)

I am actually a week behind in this post... THIS weekend has NOT been a busy weekend. In fact, this is what is literally happening on either side of her on the couch as mommy types this for me:
So here are a few things that went on last weekend... The Tuesday before, I figured out that I could very easily push the baby gates that keep me trapped in the kitchen to the side and roam free all day- I can't believe it took me so long to figure it out! When I successfully tried it and then jumped up on the couch, I set the motion sensors off in the house and the big scary alarm was going off! I ran and hid and about 15 mins later, Mom showed up from work, accompanied by a police officer. I happily greeted them at the door, but Mom wasn't too happy about it and I went into a crate for the rest of the day. Two days later, I did it again, but thankfully didn't set off the alarm. A few days later, these new gates showed up which are pressure mounted to the doorways in the kitchen, and I'm no match for them. Honestly, I was pretty afraid of them at first. Here are some pics right after they were installed. Lola was brave enough to go through, but it took me about 24 hours...Mom also took me to have my nails cut last weekend. We went alone since Lola had recently had a pedi at the vet. Mom couldn't believe how good I was for the groomer. I guess it's not really the big deal that Lola usually makes it out to be.

Lastly, on Sunday, Mom and Dad left for a while and came back with this HUGE box, which apparently contains a bed for our baby sister on the way soon. Dad's been making all this noise and mess in the office (he cut a huge hole in the ceiling!) to get it ready to be a nursery, whatever that is... It sure feels like life is about to change with all this big stuff arriving at the house. Here's a pic of Dad carrying the box up the stairs into the house- he is really strong!

Trick Or Treat!! (Diesel)

I can't decide if I like Halloween or not- it's very exciting having people come to the door every few minutes, but when they wear a mask or carry light sabers and other big strange objects, which is pretty much always, I get very nervous and start jumping and growling... so mom and dad block us from actually getting close to the door... no fun. And, a holiday that's all about treats sounds really great in theory, but they aren't the kind of treats dogs are allowed to have, so all in all, I think I'm over it.
Like last year, mom decided to outdo herself in the pumpkin carving department and all the neighbors were very complimentary. You may remember mom's bulldog pumpkin from last year, well she found a different bulldog design this year and it looked awesome!

Looking forward to Thanksgiving- now THAT's a holiday about feeding scraps under the table to puppy dog eyed creatures!

A Sister on the Way (Lola)

So... for months now there's been talk around the house about a baby, a baby girl to be exact, and I have been secretly saying little prayers that another stinkin' puppy wasn't on it's way. But as the days and weeks go on and no puppy has shown up, I'm starting to sense that that's not the kind of baby we're expecting. You know, dogs have really keen instincts, and many people have been saying to Mom "oh, they know, dogs can just sense it..." Plus, Mom won't let us walk all over her (literally) anymore, and frankly, there's a lot more climb on!

My first thought... Oh great, another loud, needy creature to compete for mom and dad's attention.

My second thought... Diesel is going to eat the baby. Or love it to death. I can't tell.

But now I've quickly remembered something I've heard about baby humans... Apparently, these tiny newborn creatures eventually grow up a little and eat food. And, they are uncoordinated- mealtimes included. So maybe a baby won't be that bad after all...

Happy Birthday to Me! (Diesel)

Today is my 2nd birthday and I got lots of special lovin'... The best part was the present Mommy and Daddy gave me. Like most babies, I've slept in a crib since I came home to live with Mom, Dad and Lola. I slept alright in there, but sometimes I got crammed and the crate pads weren't always the best...
Since I turned two today, they thought I was ready for a big boy bed to sleep in at night, so I moved out of the crib and into the toddler bed! They got the biggest size sold and it's SO comfy and snuggly- like a cloud (Dad still has to put baby gates around me and the bed at night so I don't jump up on their bed, but I don't care- I'm in heaven!):
Then tonight, they tried to put these party hats on me and Lola, but that lasted about 4 seconds...
To top it off, Mommy made me a birthday cake! They thought it looked gross but I couldn't wait to eat it! Like the two carrot "candles?!
Finally- chow time! (They made me share with Lola...)

"Crazy Blur Dog" (Lola)

Bulldogs are commonly described as being a "sedentary" breed, and while this is true of my adult life much more than when I was a puppy, I still have my sudden bursts of energy here and there. These bursts generally appear in the form of me running around in crazy circles and jumping on and off available pieces of furniture. These pics are from my recent stay at Honey's house, and as you can see, I am literally on every couch in her living room. Honey referred to this series as "crazy blur dog" when sending the pics to mom...

Honey claims that one day when she came home from work, the love seat was actually tipped over backwards, possibly from such an outburst... but I'm not admitting to anything!

Sunning at Honey's (Lola)

Mom and Dad spent last weekend at the beach, so I got to spend some time at Honey's house while Diesel got to hang out with Emma at grandma's house. Honey thought it was funny that I like to spend a lot of time just sunbathing on the front sidewalk... sometimes I just sit in the warm sun for long periods of time and I even "lay out" at times. She took these pictures of me over the weekend!
This photo isn't from this weekend, but Grandma often sends cell phone pictures of Diesel to Mom when she's watching him (usually of the stupid stuff he's doing). Here is one such picture from another recent babysitting weekend:

Gettin' Our Nails Did (Lola)

I HATE getting my nails cut. I mean, HATE it. But even I have to admit that our nails were starting to resemble talons and it just had to be done. Fortunately, Mom recently discovered that a nearby place, Scrub-A-Dub Dog, was not just a dog wash but also has a resident groomer. We used to drive 20 minutes to Petsmart or wait till we go to the vet but this was only 5 minutes down the street (for those of you who know how I tend to hyperventilate in the car, you understand why this is a big bonus).
Mom was really hoping to get some shots of us actually getting our nails cut, but she had to console me while D got his cut, and then had to console me more while I got mine done. Here's a photo of Juan, the groomer, who took a break from working on this mini schnauzer to do our pedis. Mom was very impressed with how well behaved this dog was- whatever!
Here we are dragging mom out the door to go home!
Despite the traumatic experience, look at how beautiful my pedi looks!

Louisa Bennet (Diesel)

I am in love. We've seen pics of Louisa Bennet before (the bulldog belonging to Aunt Amanda's friend Jessica), but Mom showed us these pics of her with the CA cuties and I just think she's so beautiful! Don't you agree!?
Avery and Autumn give Louisa Bennet kisses and hugs- I'm jealous!
Avery shares her shovel with Louisa, or Louisa just takes it... we can't tell...
I am also quite impressed with how athletic L.B. is... check her out going down the slide all by herself!

Surfing (the blog) in California! (Lola and Diesel)

Mommy just got home from a week in CA last night and boy did we miss her!!! Dad works so much that we were pretty bored all day, but we did get to go to see Aunt Emma for three days this week which was wonderful!

Mom uploaded all her pics from her trip and we just can't get over how CUTE our cousins, Autumn and Avery, are. She told us how Aunt Amanda's friend, Jessica, goes onto our blog all the time to show the girls and that Avery squeals and points to us on the computer! We should really post more often to keep them entertained, huh?!? Here are some pics of said blog-surfing!
