Today Mommy went to work and her boss gave her a page ripped from a magazine featuring yet
another bulldog mascot- Jack, Georgetown University's mascot! We think it's cool that back in 1962, a group of students had lobbied to adopt the bulldog as their mascot, arguing that Georgetown athletes were, like bulldogs, "tenacious." We couldn't agree more!
You can see more pics of Jack by clicking here.
Then, there is Uga, the mascot for the University of Georgia. To date, there have been seven dogs to carry the name "Uga." Each is the son of his predecessor, and each is a solid white English Bulldog. Deceased Ugas are interred in a mausoleum near the main entrance to Sanford Stadium. Several Ugas have "retired" as part of elaborate pre-game ceremonies, during which there is a "passing of the bone" and the new Uga begins his reign. We were really sad to read that Uga VII passed away suddenly from heart complications just last November... he was only four years old and had served as mascot for less than two full football seasons. They haven't named a new mascot yet, but we hear they're really picky about the lineage. We're keeping our ears open should they open it up for auditions!

(again with the big scary stuffed mascot- yikes!)
