Hot Child in the City (Lola)

It's a toasty 90 degrees out today- yikes!- and, although every dog is a potential victim of heat exhaustion, the shorter breathing system of bulldogs puts us at very strong risk for heat stroke. A shorter airway means less possibility of cooling the air which we bulldogs draw into our bodies. On days like this, Mom keeps us in the house all day, since any walks or playing in the heat and sun can be fatal for us. Today I mostly lounged on the cool tile hearth and on the couch with Dad but once it cooled down in the late afternoon, mom took us across the street to wade in the cold stream. This is one of my very FAVORITE hot-weather activities and we haven't done it since last year... I don't waste any time getting right in:
It was Diesel's first time in the stream since we got him in the winter and, not surprisingly, he dove right in too:
How refreshing! We can't wait to go swimming again soon:
